I always think of Shep, Joey, and Patrick as the threesome, but by the novel's end, Robin, to me, makes it a foursome. I can no longer imagine these friends together without her there. (Is it odd to still call them friends?) And I like her a lot, so this is a good thing. Though i still can't imagine how the Shep/Patrick/Robin triangle is going to play out.
What do you think of Robin and are you glad she's moved up front and center, or do you consider her a minor character?

I thought she was really funny. I hope to see more of her.

I love Robin, and fear what may happen to her in the squeakwell. Shep knows Obrien's in lurve, and he's a devious little bastard who doesn't care about Robin's feelings, and just uses her as a pawn in his games. Goddam Powers. They think they're divine.

(Conflict!) I'm going back and forth here. First I say, I can't argue that Shep cares nothing for Robin's feelings and that he uses her as a pawn (I was furious at the way he talked to her on the phone, he kidnapped her, he tied her up, yeah, he's using her to get Patrick, possibly, at the end--all which make for a less than ideal boyfriend). But, he's new to this human thing, new to love like this I'm sure. And I think back and think he does care about her feelings; he abuses them and wants everything tidied up and okay. He loses his temper and then wants everyone to forgive and forget. That's not something you want to live with; he needs some psychological balancing, but I wouldn't say he doesn't care.
And how could someone like Robin love him? I don't picture her to be the battered, abused, co-dependent type. She tells Litner she's grown up some since "dating" Shep. Patrick is the much, much better choice, no doubt about it. But something in Shep appealed to her (and still does in the end). What does Robin see? What did she love in him? See, I trust her. That's the thing about Robin.

Shep's probably a dynamo in bed, though.

Hahahaha! Well, of course. But did you have to get me imagining that? I need to get over this guy. He's making me unable to revise old works because he's not the male that inspired them.

He's too cool NOT to have a dingaling! Besides...it's a celestial dingaling.
