No pressure, but is Adrienne actually WORKING on a sequel, or is it just something for a future project? Because I need more Shep.

I'm putting psychic calls out to Shep whenever I can, telling him to go bug her some more. When he decides it's time, I've a feeling she won't have a choice but to plunge forward (he's being awfully kind and considerate at the moment, or more likely, he's scheming). So, Adrienne, as soon as the Gypsies galleys are all sent out and the Cod sequels wrap up and Grim and Grimmer promo is done ... (sigh) you can only do so much, right. We need two of you.

You can rest assured, Shep has been tormenting me, and the sequel is started. Gypsies galleys are mailed out, the Cod is going well, but I have started work on Hoax2---as yet to be titled, though I have a few ideas. I'm gonna avoid saying anything further because I don't want to be influenced, but I see this being ready in 2008. :-XWhat I will say is this---there will be some new characters, but plenty of old characters too. And among the old characters, there will be some new roles taken on. It's gonna be interesting to say the least. Shep is already in control, I'm just trying to keep up. ;D

You can rest assured, Shep has been tormenting me Atta boy, Shep. I bow to him for that. Really, I'm so glad you've already begun and have all these ideas going. I didn't think you'd be able to tackle that with Cod going. This makes me very happy. And no, I wouldn't want you to tell us too much. This is going to be THE BIG THING in 2008! (Or should I be figuring 2009?)

I'm glad you're looking forward to it! It almost feels like cheating working on the Hoax sequel, as these characters are so much fun, like visiting old friends, and it's almost effortless.
But I've got a lot going on right now, so it's a good time to slow down and work on something that's pure pleasure. My new novel Blender Born is done and being proofed by my mother (I know, weird huh?). But she was an operating room nurse for 20 years, and is giving me invaluable feedback regarding the medical procedures. So when she's done with that, I'm going on a mad submissions campaign for that one. That will take up some time, plus I have Gypsies coming out in December, and promotions for that will be intense. Plus I must continue to advertise and promot The Hoax, or there won't be anyone to care enough about a sequel. So I've got my hands full in terms of projects, so I won't be starting anything 'brand new' for a while. (I don't consider the Hoax sequel brand new, more of an extension of what already exists).
It's difficult as the writers out there know, because in this business you feel you have to be constantly killing yourself with work or you're not being prolific enough. But I think now is a good time to slow down and tend to the gardens I've already got planted before starting any more new ones, lest they all wither and die.

Yah! I can't wait.
Just don't kill anyone I like. Oh wait, you said you don't want to be influenced by us. Got it. But just don't kill anyone I like. ;D

Every day this sequel is becoming more and more necessary for me. I find myself having to shut down my imagination because it wants to create scenarios between someone else's characters. I see Juris and Shep together; I tell myself, no. No, it has to wait. What are they doing!!! What are these guys all doing? It's so unfair, Adrienne, that you know and we have to sit here and wait (I know you're doing everything you can--believe me, it's appreciated.)
